Guest Speakers

Guests from other community groups are always welcome to give talks on their particular areas of expertise in order to provide the members access to specialist wellbeing groups or provide really valuable information.

A recent meeting welcomed Evelyn Schiller who gave a very informative talk on sickle cell, an issue that is a very real concern within the black community as a whole. You could tell they were really passionate about it and spoke about how we, as a community, don't give enough blood and there is therefore an urgent need for donors from the wider black community. The guest speakers left the group more aware of sickle cell and inspired some to give blood donation a go, a testament to the groups' shared ethos of  helping not only themselves but also their community.
